Top Ways to Get Free Traffic to your Website

Articles No Comments »

Every day I see posts on how to get traffic to your website. Of course there are many paid ways such as Google Adwords, Yahoo, etc which offer PPC (Pay Per CLick) advertising. These companies made millions per year…even BILLIONS selling this type of advertising. I have to admit I use them. There is no easier, faster way to get immediate traffic to a website than using one of these paid services. You can get people looking at your site in minutes. But not every webmaster has the funding to pay for this. So let’s talk about some of the best ways I have found to get traffic to your website that is free except for the time invested.

1. Social Bookmarking
This is by far the best way as of now. With so many services such as del.icio.us, DIGG and others, it is important that any new website have the capability of letting USERS submit the website and content to others. A big mistake is to do this yourself. It helps…but in the long run it is a bad idea. There are so many scripts around to put social bookmarking links on your site. Think web 2.0.

2. Articles
Tedious but works so well. Write articles about your subject website. Then write more articles. And lastly write more articles. Put some on your site but reword them from any you send to article directory sites. I usually only send to one or two article directory sites unless I mix up and rewrite the article.

3. Blogging
Search engines LOVE blogs. Search engines LOVE frequently updated blogs. Can you see a trend here? You must write and write more. If you cant write find some PLR content and rewrite it. Do not just slap it up there. Blogs are awesome for traffic. I am really getting into this one and others by posting daily or almost daily. I check the stats and see the Googlebot coming every day. That means that Google is spidering my site for new content! Awesome!

4. Make Videos
This is one I do not do but I am camera shy :) Make some videos about the topics on your site and post to YouTube and other places but make sure somewhere in the video is your website name. Make a intro screen and exit screen with your URL.

5. Forum Help
I know this seems obvious but posting in forums and posting HELPFUL info is great for driving traffic. Make sure to have a good signature link to your site. You would be surprised how many people click it! But you must provide SOLID VALUED info. Do not just post one line answers. Help someone out. The more people you help, the more you will grow. I firmly believe in giving as much free info as possible and to help others out. You will be rewarded in the end.

Internet Marketing and Focus

Other No Comments »

If there is one thing I have learned with Internet Marketing is focus. It is very easy to get overloaded and full of ideas. If you browse around forums or see all the new products launched daily it is very easy to go from one thing to another. We are all guilty of it and battle this force daily.

You MUST find one area to be an expert in and spend 100% of your efforts there. I too still deal with this daily. I have read many books, and watched videos on succeeding and becoming rich. One thing common to all is that you must be focused and never ever give up. Giving up or even thinking about it is failure already. What if Donald Trump just gave up after he lost most of everything? He didn’t and he is on top again. You must focus and not let anything or anyone deter you from your goal.

Speaking of goals… do you have any? Do not say “its to make a lot of money”. Your goals need to be specific. Your goals need to be within reason but should make people blink a few times. You cannot go around saying I want to be making 25 million in 6 months since that is not reasonable unless you are making millions already. But I would not hesitate to say I want to be making 1 million within a year. Do not go for comfortable because that will never help you grow. If you shoot for the stars, you will party with the stars.

Google Slap Hit Me … Now What Do I Do?

Advertising / PPC No Comments »

Many of you woke up and were hit with the Google Slap. I was too. I freaked out.

But after many weeks of testing I found out some peculiar things.

Google obviously was interested in cleaning up the tons of Made For Adsense sites, and crappy landing pages. They really do not need such type of sites in the engine. So they slapped many with the $5 and $10 bids. This left no reason for many to continue and pay these high prices for a single click. There went the list building and Adsense Arbitrage. Oh no said the crowd. But there is more.

I did some testing and found out a little more about the dreaded quality score. Now none of this is official! It is my own money being spent on testing. The first thing that kind of shocked me is how much the domain name mattered when placing landing pages. You know when Adwords does that little check of your ad content, and URL? Well this sure matters more than the stuff you are typing for the ad. Where the landing page is (not the content of the landing page) matters so much. I am not sure if some of my domain which scored poor would ever lose this ranking. It seemed that on some domains poor is ALWAYS what you will ever get. But there are some ways to improve your chances.

One thing I did was to take my landing page and remove any trace of adsense. Now I know many cannot do this. But many can! So do it.

Another example of how you can improve your chances is to take your landing page, and link to other related pages. Make a second page for a related keyword. but more importantly, you need to add four links to the landing page: about page, privacy page, sitemap and contact page.

Google loves privacy policies and sitemaps. I cannot stress this enough. If you do not have these you will not be doing things right with Google. Why fight them? Once created it is simple to link in to your landing page which gives more validity to your page…which should not just be one standalone unlined page. Google does not want one page landing pages. They want quality, linked to a whole site landing pages.

There are many other tips and ideas I came up with during my months of testing. Some work…some do not. I have made many templates and files around adwords testing especially excel. You need to track your changes (Google does) and do things slowly.
